SE Asia 2024: Vietnam Day 1

Hey guys! My first day was absolutely amazing, you wouldn’t believe the beautiful things I’ve seen in such a short time. I started the day getting coffee with one of the people I’m staying with, she took me to this local place walking distance from the apartment. Today was a day to get my grounds and adjust to this new environment! Also getting to know the lovely family I’m lucky to stay with! After coffee we met her husband downtown to get lunch and I got a quick glimpse of the city. I had my first Vietnamese meal which was absolutely amazing! If I’m being completely real with you guys.. I never eat any type of Asian food other than your local Trader Joe’s dumplings or orange chicken, which doesn’t count. I’m not against it, I guess it’s just not as common in my area or circle cause that’s never a suggestion when thinking of what to eat going out with friends or family. Point of me saying that is because I’m excited to expand my palette and I’m going to try to have an open mind when it comes to trying new foods. So far so good! You wouldn’t believe the experience I had after lunch, I know my mom would be sooooo jealous. I got a 60 minute massage for $19!!! They definitely knew I’d never been there before but they were so nice and oh my goodness I NEEDED that after my flight! Perfect way to start my time here. We got dinner later that evening and I tried bánh mì, it’s basically a sandwich made in a baguette with different meats/vegetables. It was super good and the place was pretty cute too! Overall my first day was nothing short of perfect and I’m so grateful to be staying with such wonderful people who are more than happy to help me out!
