Today was bittersweet. I’m honestly a lot more sad to leave than I expected. I woke up this morning knowing it was my last time waking up here in this place that somewhat now feels like home. I walked to the garden for the last time and began watering all the plants. Juan and Yvette spent a lot of the morning making jokes and talking about when I’m coming back. We headed over to a community of condominiums nearby to plant a couple of trees. I was so tired today and have no idea why, I think the sun was really getting to me. Anyways, after we finished they wanted to go out to lunch one last time so we all went out when we got back. Of course they took me to superfoods (a new fav). Juan got this avocado spinach quesadilla which was soooo good! I got to meet another partner of CRES at lunch that was visiting from another part of the island and she brought her kids! They were the cutest, we played jenga and other games throughout eating. It was nice to spend the afternoon just hanging out versus working on my last day here. When the time came that they had to leave I gave them a hug and said my goodbyes. I headed back to the hostel and got back right before it started pouring. Perfect timing even though I went right back outside anyways to enjoy the rain. I love when it rains here, it’s still warm and feels like a refreshing shower. I hung out at the hostel watching the rain for a bit packing up until Christian got off work. He was nice enough to commit to taking me to the airport at 4:30 am!! We decided to just try and stay up till I had to leave. We got food and basically have no plan for the rest of the night other than hanging out waiting. Very anticlimactic last day but I wouldn’t change it. Thanks so much for reading throughout my trip, I hope you all lived vicariously through me!
