Kenia in the Middle

Week 2!! Today Yvette took us to my favorite beach I’ve been to here so far! It’s called Loíza, and our goal today was to collect seeds to germinate in the garden. We were collecting sea grapes and red mangroves, both native plants of the coast. After we finished we all got to swim together at this beautiful beach, then Yvette took us to one of the restaurants along the street for some of her favorite local food. On the drive to get to the beach there’s restaurants lining both sides of the road and all of them looked incredible. We all tried empanadillas, I got the shrimp one and it was so good. Theirs also this fried cod snack called bacalaíto, definitely my favorite Puerto Rican food I’ve had. Belle and I also treated ourselves to a pina colada. When Belle and I got back we met up with Nastassia and headed to the beach. We took some cute digital pictures while there so I’ll put some in at the bottom. Later that night we went to a karaoke bar. I’d never done karaoke before and it’s a lot more nerve racking than expected, I really don’t typically get nervous like that, but once we sang it was super fun! I’m glad they convinced me to go out after a long day.
